Substack feels different: Real. Liberating. Safe. And it's thanks to you.
Finally, an online platform where I can just be myself. Thank you for making this a genuinely accepting community where we all uplift each other through words.
When you created your Substack account, you were probably going through a similar experience as I was:
What is this? How does it work? I wonder how this is different from other online blogs and social media platforms. How on earth will I ever get 10 subscribers? Oh well, let’s see where it goes.
I had no idea what was waiting for me.
Substack sells itself as a way for writers to make money from their work, which, as a writer, sounded fantastic.
But I found something far more valuable.
I found a community of people who love to write. Real people who craved a safe space to make sense of their worlds by sharing their thoughts, musings, dreams, hopes, experiences, etc. through the written word.
Honestly, I had no idea how much I needed this.
And I am so grateful to be here.
Thank you for being a part of this caring community where we can all just be our own selves, with no fear of judgement or nastiness. Where everyone is so supportive and uplifting it makes my heart want to jump out of my chest.
And the best part? I’m not the only one who feels this way.
When I had this realization, I shared a Note about it.
And it completely blew up:
Seeing so many people resonating with this, and having a similar realization, filled me with even more joy. I’ve found my place and my people!
But why does Substack feel so different?
Some of you pointed this out, or already shared your own Notes about it, and I think these are the key elements that contribute to the beauty of Substack:
No ads
No big brands
No competition
Everyone here is simply finding joy in sharing their words and reading other people’s writings.
That’s it.
And I love it.
Thanks for being here.

Love this post! I relate to your feelings about Substack. I hope it stays this way! 💕
Yesss!!! And there are no videos either (I mean just short videos as some creators can include them in their post) as someone commented in their Note. And I do hope there will never be. To me it also feels that there are (almost) no expectations either, towards the audience, and that's why they are exceeded constantly. Let it be so! I believe that all the people here will be protecting the uniqueness of this space as sacred.
